Position Description:
East Bay Community Action Program (EBCAP) is seeking a full-time (30 hours per week) and a part-time (15 hours per week) Lead Teacher for our Newport Family & Child Opportunity Zone (NFCOZ) Program at the Pell Elementary School in Newport, RI. NFCOZ provides services and referrals to Newport children and their families in school and community settings, in partnership with Newport Public Schools, parents, and the community.
The Lead Teacher is responsible for creating and implementing the curriculum and thematic activities for their assigned Champion Childcare Program at Pell classrooms, the development and implementation of a nurturing environment for the children, supervision, and care of enrolled elementary students, Communication with families; and assisting to supervise and direct childcare teacher assistants.
Support students who are identified as needing additional resources and interventions in coordination with classroom teachers and specialists. Assist the Coordinator NFCOZ to offer students a broad array of activities that reinforce and complement the regular academic program and that support connections to school, assist students to develop 21st Century skills, and contribute to students’ and emotional growth. Supervise children and ensure safety while attending assigned sessions.
Lead Teachers are also responsible for following all applicable NFCOZ, EBCAP, district, and state regulations and mandates for assisting to advance NFCOZ and EBCAP initiatives, and for promoting the philosophy and mission of the NFCOZ and EBCAP and the goals of Champion Childcare.
EBCAP is committed to the safety of our employees and clients during this COVID-19 medical crisis. We are currently conducting our interviews remotely. Our new hires are attending orientation and program-specific orientations remotely, and proof of Covid-19 vaccinations is required.

Qualifications:
As required by the RI Department of Human Services Childcare Regulations: A person who meets all the qualifications in one (1) of the following options may assume the role of Lead Teacher:
MINIMUM: Option 1: The individual holds a High School Diploma with a vocational concentration in childcare and has two (2) years of supervised experience in a licensed/approved Early Childhood Program.
