Position Description:

Position Summary

The State Pre-K Teacher Assistant supports the Lead Pre-K Teacher in providing a high-quality, developmentally appropriate early childhood education program for four-year-old students in accordance with state Pre-K guidelines and district policies. The assistant works collaboratively to create a safe, nurturing, and engaging classroom environment that promotes children’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth.

Key Responsibilities

Assist the Lead Teacher in planning and implementing daily instructional activities aligned with state Pre-K standards.
Support individualized and small-group instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
Supervise children to ensure a safe and inclusive classroom environment.
Help prepare instructional materials, learning centers, and classroom displays.
Assist with assessing student progress through observation and documentation.
Foster positive relationships with students, families, and staff.
Support classroom routines, transitions, and behavior management in accordance with program expectations.
Participate in professional development, team meetings, and parent conferences as needed.
Perform related duties such as maintaining records, cleaning up, and organizing supplies.

Qualifications:
Required:

High school diploma or GED

Minimum of a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or an associate degree in Early Childhood Education (as required by state regulations)
Experience working with young children in an educational setting

Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field
Knowledge of state Pre-K curriculum standards and developmentally appropriate practices
Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills
