Position Description:
Do you have a passion for nurturing the youngest learners and helping families thrive? Children’s Friend is looking for a compassionate and dedicated Infant/Toddler Teacher to join our Head Start team. In this rewarding role, you’ll help shape the early learning experiences of children from birth to age three while partnering with families and a multidisciplinary team to support each child’s growth and development.

What You’ll Do
As an Infant/Toddler Teacher, you will create a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning environment where young children can explore, grow, and thrive.
Key responsibilities include:
Implement engaging curriculum aligned with Head Start performance standards and DCYF licensing requirements
Foster children’s social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development
Observe and document children’s progress and maintain accurate developmental records
Partner closely with families through regular communication, conferences, and home visits
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including health, nutrition, mental health, and family support staff
Maintain a welcoming classroom that supports diversity, inclusion, and positive relationships
Work alongside a Teacher Assistant to create a supportive and enriching classroom environment
Participate in professional development and ongoing training to continuously strengthen teaching practice
Serve as a mentor and role model for colleagues and new teachers
Qualifications:
Associate’s degree required
Bachelor’s degree with a focus on Infant/Toddler development preferred
Experience working with children birth–3 years old, or strong interest in this age group
Ability to create warm, supportive relationships with children and families
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Basic computer skills for documentation and communication
Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and ability to travel between sites as needed
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
CPR and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain)
Ability to meet DCYF licensing requirements and background screening
Preferred:
RIDE certification
