Position Description:
OVERVIEW
Classroom Teacher Assistant Position
_
The Childcare Center at McAuley Village is opening two new classrooms. We are looking for a
team that is excited to create a program that provides quality care and education to children and
their families. Our two classrooms are being planned to be open in the Fall of 2025 and will
include a Toddler 3-5 and School Aged 6-12 classroom, located at 325 Niagara Street in
Providence, RI. The Toddler Classroom Teacher Assistant Position is a full-time position
Monday – Friday, 7:30 AM – 3:30 PM. The afterschool and summer camp program Teacher
Assistant is a part-time position during the school year, M-F 2 PM – 6 PM, and full-time, M-F
7:30 AM – 3:30 PM during summer and school vacation breaks.
McAuley Village is a housing program for women led families with children that prides itself on
offering programs and services that help the family live their best life possible and assists the
mom in all ways possible to achieve housing and financial security. Quality childcare is a critical
need that enables these families to gain financial independence.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The classroom Teacher Assistant works under the supervision and guidance of the Lead
Teacher and is responsible for supporting the teacher.
Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS
An individual must be at least eighteen (18) years of age and hold a High School Diploma or a
GED certificate to assume the role of Teacher Assistant.
Must have at least 1-year prior experience working with youth
Experience with direct service with youth ages 3-13. Responsible for overseeing the planning,
development, implementation and evaluation of a broad range of recreational programs in the
areas of Education, The Arts, STEAM, Social Recreation, Leadership, Sports, etc.
Comprehensive Background Checks -1. All individuals working or engaging directly with
children who are employed or acting as a volunteer in the program, must complete all
requirements of a comprehensive background check as outlined here:
https://dhs.ri.gov/programs-and-services/child-care/child-careproviders/background-checks prior
to the assignment of child care duties, and every five (5) years thereafter.
CPR/AED/First Aid Certificate
Be able to Lift 40 pounds.
SKILLS
Has the ability and willingness to support the spirit of Mercy as set forth in the mission of

Possess Basic Computer Skills.
Demonstrate proper Written and Oral communication skills; bilingual English/Spanish is
a plus.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
Group leadership skills, including an understanding of group dynamics.
Ability to plan and implement quality programs for youth.
Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior problems.
Interpersonal skills include decision making, reflective listening, and conflict resolution.
Must function effectively in a team environment and work cooperatively with support
agencies.
Must be able to perform daily physical activities, including but not limited to: running,
skipping, hopping and other gross motor movements and demonstrate emotional
stability.
Ability to organize and plan activities.
Establish warm, supportive relationships with children, families, staff and administrators
