Position Description:
General Description
The School Age Site Coordinator is responsible for the execution of the learning and development at the STEAM Engine program. They develop schedules, coordinate activities, and supervise the youth enrichment counselors assigned within this program. Knowledge of funding resources such as the Department of Human Services, Department of Children, Youth and Families and other child subsidy resources is important.
Essential Duties
● Staff program within licensing ratio requirements
● Provide daily leadership and operate programming in accordance with Child Care Regulations for Licensure and BrightStars
● Supervise youth program workers, work-study students, and volunteers
● Provide orientation and training for new staff members
● Establish and implement intake procedures for all children entering the program
● Oversee development and implementation of curriculum (i.e. STEAM and Rosie’s Girls)
● Ensure age-appropriate supplies and materials are maintained within program
● Purchase materials and equipment with prior approval from the President/CEO
● Manage health, social, and emotional matters as necessary
● Coordinate billing information as required
● Maintain and update administrative paperwork for youth programs
● Manages food program for snacks and meals as available
● Maintain records for childcare food services and subsidy programs as applicable
● Plan and coordinate school vacation camps
● Arrange before/after school transportation, including driving program vans
● Attend scheduled staff supervision meetings and special events as assigned
● Complete a minimum of 20 hours per year of recommended training programs conducted by recognized professionals in the field; professional conferences; courses at an approved institution of higher education; or other similar activities such as classroom observation, reading relevant books and articles, etc.
● Ensure the building is always safe and secure
● Perform job-related duties as assigned (i.e. strengthening community partnerships)
Position Hours:
7:30-10:30am and 1-6pm split shift during the school year
8:00am-4:00pm in the summer and on school breaks
Qualifications:
Qualifications and Education Requirements
● Must be a minimum of 21 years of age
● Have the ability to obtain a Chauffeur’s License and drive program vans
● Meets all the qualifications in one (1) of the following options:
o Option 1: The individual holds an associate’s degree or sixty (60) college credit hours, with eighteen (18) of them in a field related to Education, Child Development, Human Services or Recreation from an approved and accredited institution of higher education, and has two (2) years supervised teaching experience in a licensed/approved Early Childhood Program (student teaching may fulfill this requirement).
o Option 2: The individual holds an associate's degree in a field related to Education, Child Development, Human Services or Recreation from an accredited or approved institution of higher education, and has one (1) year supervised teaching experience in a licensed/approved Early Childhood Program (student teaching may fulfill this requirement).
o Option 3: The individual holds a bachelor's degree or higher in a field related to Education, Child Development, Human Services or Recreation from an accredited or approved institution of higher education and has three (3) months supervised teaching experience in a licensed/approved Early Childhood Program (student teaching may fulfill this requirement).
o Option 4: The individual holds a master’s degree in a field related to Education, Child Development, Human Services or Recreation from an accredited or approved institution of higher education.
Accountability: To ensure compliance with DHS Child Care Licensing, they report to and collaborate with the Director of Education.
